Develops and manufactures Fiber Optic Equipment for the Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) telecommunications market.  Products include Packet over SONET and Packet over SDH, incorporating mixed data plus voice at OC-3 rates of 155.52 Mbps. Company ceased operations late in 2001.

 

Systems Architect                                                                              April 2001 – September 2001

Oversaw technical initiatives of engineering staff for product design, hardware design and software development.  Managed design and architectureural development of systems utilizing combination of technologies including Ethernet (10/100), T1, T3, E1, SONET and SDH.  Directed integration of technology to incorporate APS and UPSR protection switching.

 

Accomplishments:

·         Designed new product for 3 x T3, and 3 x STS-1 system over SONET/SDH.  Developed first product within planned expansion family to incorporate advance features of Automatic Protection Switching (APS), Unidirectional Path Switched Ring (UPSR), and dual-fed fiber protection systems.

·         Developed architecture to support design of FPGA solution for SDH/TUG-3 system with VC-3, VC-12 and VC-4 components. Created architectural model and API for new TUG-3 systems driver.

·         Initiated changes to architecture of Ethernet + T1 over SONET product that simplified approach within Packet Processing subsystem while delivering significant cost reductions.

·         Modified architecture of Ethernet + E1 over SDH product, which streamlined functionality of Packet Processing subsystems and dramatically reduced expenses.
